Judging Requirements

California Journalism Awards entrants MUST provide judges for the contest as follows:
DIVISION 1: Dailies with print circulation of 50,001+; and/or 700,000+ monthly unique visitors; and/or 40+ FTE — 3 judges DIVISION 2: Dailies with print circulation of 15,001-50,000; and/or 600,000-699,000 monthly unique visitors; and/or 26-39 FTE — 2 judges DIVISION 3: Dailies with print circulation of 15,000 and under; and/or 500,000-599,000 monthly unique visitors; and/or 16-25 FTE — 1 judge	DIVISION 4: Weeklies with print circulation of 25,001+; and/or 400,000-499,000 monthly unique visitors; and/or 11-15 FTE— 3 judges DIVISION 5: Weeklies with a print circulation of 11,001-25,000; and/or 300,000-399,000 monthly unique visitors; and/or 6-10 FTE — 2 judges DIVISION 6: Weeklies with a print circulation of 4,301-11,000; and/or 200,000-299,000 monthly unique visitors; and/or 4-5 FTE — 2 judges DIVISION 7: Weeklies with a print circulation of 4,300 and under; and/or 199,000 or less monthly unique visitors; and/or 3 or fewer FTE — 1 judge FREELANCERS – 1 judge Campus, by division: 4-year and 2-year colleges — 2 judges High schools — 1 judge

Judges do not have to be employees of your publication or school, but must be experienced journalists. Please notify everyone you sign up to judge the contest. Contestants who do not provide judges before Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, will have their entries disqualified.
